Clean Your Drinking Water

Having to Clean Your Drinking Water is a fact of life today. While it is easier to just buy bottled water, the cost to our planet is not worth taking the easy way. Now we have all seen the “island” of plastic in the ocean. Do you want to add to that mess? I know that I would do anything that I could to avoid adding to that mess. We all need to do our part to avoid putting plastic or any other nondegradable substance in our waters and landfills.

Certainly, over the years. There have been many companies touting “clean water” methods. Yet they have all been expensive, with large tanks taking up space. Moreover, so many of the so-called Faucett devices have chemicals in their filters. Of course, chemicals are something we should stay away from. Or are they metal or plastic? However, here is one made from pure glass. Imagine a complete system made of clean, pure glass. After all, what goes better with water and sparkling cleanliness than glass? While there are no seams or defects to hide bacteria and contaminants, with glass, you see exactly how clean your water is. Now, just like my wine, I like the freshest, most natural, clean water available.

Now we all know that things just taste better in a glass. I have never had any type of after-taste when using a glass to drink from. While I cannot say that about plastic or even metal. Did you know that glass was around long before the industrial revolution? How is glass made? Glass is the amazing transformation of sand when extreme heat is applied. I learned that when I dated a man that taught me and my kids about glass blowing. Since he was very thorough in his teachings, we were actually witnesses to this transformation. Certainly, it was informative. As well as a great visualization of the importance of breath control.

Somehow drinking clean clear water from a clean clear glass just goes together. Whenever I think of drinking water, I see a stream of running water. Bubbling over rocks and gravel; naturally purifying itself every 60 feet, or so I was told as a child. Yet the one constant I think of when thinking of water; is the way light appears to make it sparkle when it is moving. Hence the term “Sparkling Water”. Which gives it the appearance of sparkling like “Diamonds”. Of course, being female, the diamond reference brings to mind purity and a special feeling.

Clean Your Drinking Water: Is Under Your Control

While many will choose a different approach. I prefer to utilize the purest form of filtration. Having a chemistry background I know that metal and plastics react to water. Therefore, consuming the chemicals that are cast off, or activated from these reactions is not an option. Since there is a difference between clean water and purified water; I will go into them here.

  • Purified Water- Utilizes a filtration system that removes contaminants that can cause illness. Such as chemicals, bacterial and viral agents. While also removing suspended solid matter and gases. Making it fit for human consumption.
  • Cleaned Water- Genrally uses various membranes to take out suspenced solid matter from water. While taking out the larger particulate, but not the bacterial and viral contaminates. This water can be used for cooking as the heating and boiling of the water tends to kill bacteria and viral matter harmful to humans. Although not a guaranteed method, can be used in emergency situations. But usually not encouraged to drink without boiling or filtration through special filters.

While I am on the subject of emergency situations. Are you aware of exactly how much water the human body needs per day to function? According to medical reference books, we require 1 to 7 liters of water per day. Certainly, that is a lot more than the 8, 8-ounce glasses per day that we grew up thinking we needed. Why the big difference? Well, we usually consume liquids in other things we eat during the day. Which adds to the total intake.

But in an emergency situation, we might not eat for days. Therefore the total needs to be higher. In case you were not aware; the human body can survive 7 days without eating a bite. But only 3 days without water. While the 7 days are fairly constant regardless of the weather. In hot weather, we would not survive 3 full days without water. Most likely not even 2 days. So remember, if you keep your “Snaps” with you, you’ll be able to think clearly in an emergency.
