Napa’s City Nights 2022 is amazing music with a family picnic atmosphere. While my first knowledge of this amazing music gathering was quite an accident, since I love the River Walk view of the river in the evenings, I had started taking my dog down there to brush and trim her hair. To my great surprise, I arrived one Friday evening and found the whole park full. With tables and blankets all over the ground. Moreover, there was excitement in the air. Suddenly, the music started, and I was rocking out while combing my dog. The whole place was rocking to the band. With children and adults dancing in front of the stage. As I looked around at the crowd, it looked like a huge family reunion.
There were about three levels of tiers, so everyone had a great view. Children and adults were going from one group to another, chatting and laughing. With wine and food being shared. Even the dogs seemed to be having the time of their lives. Certainly, there were so many people inquiring about my unusual-looking dog. I was quite happy to inform them all about her breed. However, I did wish I had brought a nice wine from the winery that I promote on these pages.
Napa’s City Nights 2022: How It All Began
With the downtown River Walk and renovation of the Veteran’s Memorial Park. Now Napa had a new look. Completed in 2008, the downtown area’s bridges and canals for flood control gave the area a brand new look. While most of the buildings had a “quaint” look to them, with the addition of the bridges and canals, Napa had a new feel to this area. It became small-town America with a hint of European flair. Wanting to promote this new look and feeling for Napa.
The City Nights was created to bring locals and tourists together in a brand new way. Certainly, it was a boon for the downtown merchants, but it was also so much more. Here was a new way of bringing out the music lovers of all types of genres for a night of fun and community celebration. Yet, I think it exceeded everyone’s expectations. According to what I heard, it has been going on for 15 years now. There are no signs that anyone is getting tired of listening to our favorite songs from the past.
Napa’s City Nights 2022: Let The Party Begin
With the arrival of people long before the music begins. There is a sense of excitement in the air. The “Party Atmosphere” is almost palpable. You hear laughter and the clinking of glasses in a toast. While the aroma of food permeates the senses, while looking around, we see vendors for food, drink, and sparkling wands, light sabers, and wind catchers of all sorts. Thereby, you add to the “Party” feeling that is contagious the second you step onto Main Street, where the crowds are entering the park. Soon, dusk is upon us and the announcer introduces the bands to play that evening. I have included a video that I took showing the crowd below. I hope you enjoy the clip as much as I did the show.
As you can see, a good time was had by all. I know I am looking forward to the rest of the shows for this year as well as what they have in store for next year.
