Nursing Helpful Hints is a collection of hints learned from both sides of the fence. As a patient and a healthcare provider, these were accumulated throughout my nursing career. There have been many, that stated I should write a book. Of course, the reason is that I cannot resist helping others learn. As a nosey RN. I learned from my instructors, my caregivers, and from my own experiences. Therefore I learned many valuable lessons. While working for more than 14 years. Certainly, I was able to encounter a variety of great insights.

Nursing: helpful hints: This is for the caring professional wanting to put the patient first. With this statement; I mean someone willing to take a little more time. Thus assuring the “Gentle” side of procedures. While observing the reactions of patients and family. Naturally, if all goes well. There might be a book in the future.

Collect C Diff Sample: This can be especially challenging in elderly women. Since C Diff causes diarrhea. Moreover, most elderly women are also incontinent of urine. Which results in contamination of the specimen. Now the question becomes. How to collect a clean sample. While I was nursing. There were so many times that a patient was sent home. Without a proper specimen. Thereby leaving a sick woman without treatment. Need I remind everyone? C-Diff Is Deadly!!! Without proper antibiotics. This infection will overtake the gut. Long-Term Use Of Prednisone: There are some Long-Term Use Of Prednisone side effects that are not commonly known. With “Prednisone Psychosis” being one of many that can kill. But I am not just talking about it killing the user of Prednisone; the wrong person at the wrong time can end up a victim of this psychosis. Nursing: Helpful Hints: Placing A Splint On The Thumb Or Index Finger

Since I am sort of a klutz, I have had my share of finger splints. While splinting the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Digits is relatively simple. The Thumb and Index Finger require a very secure wrap. This is due to the increased use of these two digits. Without a secure wrap, the splint can move to cause an abrasion on the skin. As well as the unwanted movement of the digit having the splint. This will result from their experience with their first few injections. However, while we know how important it is for a good outcome. There have been many methods learned for wound care. However the most important for myself; has been prevention at the home level.
