Patient Comfort: In The Clinical Setting

Patient Comfort In A Clinical Setting

Why Patient Comfort: In The Clinical Setting is so important. Firstly, try to imagine how you would feel if you had no control over your environment. There are so many ways to enhance patient comfort. While most patients complain of feeling too cold, others might feel the noise level is too high. These are issues that are easily fixed. Yet there are too many clinics that ignore patient comfort.

Patient Comfort: In the Clinical Setting. While maintaining patient comfort is easy, it is frequently ignored for our own comfort. Now put yourself in your patient’s place. Sitting in a chair and shivering. Certainly, that is not something to look forward to. While I know that working can make you hot, there are ways to alleviate the heat. As for the noise, certainly for myself, speaking softer is achievable.

Patient Comfort: In The Clinical Setting. Since feeling cold is the most common complaint, we will start there first. While there are many ways for caregivers to keep cool, here I will name a few.

Wear the lightest clothing and undergarments you have.

♦ Keep lots of cold fluids nearby.

♦ Use a cold, wet towel around your neck while charting.

♦ Have a desk fan near your work area.

Now you have an idea. Of just how easy changing your habits can be. Certainly, you will feel more comfortable with the room temperature being higher. But your patients will be happier. Which will enhance patient attendance.

Patient Comfort: In The Clinical Setting/ Environment Is Too Loud. Certainly, we have all had to yell for another staff member for assistance. Yet when there are multiple employees, the volume level can become irritating. Therefore, it is better to speak in hushed tones. Resulting in allowing some patients to sleep. Another irritant. Reported by patients is the squeaking of our shoes. While our shoes are rubber-soled,now we have access to “Quiet Soles.” Thus decreasing some of the irritation.

I am sure that at one time or another. We have all been patients, so we know how easily tempers can flare. Because when feeling ill, we just want to be left alone in peace and quiet. Also to be as warm or cool as we like. Certainly, we should all strive to accommodate our patient’s needs. Resulting in everyone feeling happier. Because happier patients are less demanding, thus alleviating our extra work. Which will result in not working so hard.
