Books Stimulate Your Imagination

Books Stimulate Your Imagination

Books stimulate your imagination. Certainly, there is nothing that goes together better. While reading certain passages on pages. You can actually put yourself in the storyline with your mind. There have been many times that I have been so scared of a novel, but not when I have watched its movie counterpart. These feelings were noticeably different. Subsequently, I was let down. Certainly when I was younger. I could not understand why there was such a difference. However, now I can understand the difference in the emotional factor. Naturally, I sometimes enjoy a glass of FINE WINE while reading.

Reading Allows You To “LIVE” The Stories You Read

Why Books Stimulate Your Imagination Are Better Than The Movies

While you are reading a story. (Whether it be an article, a short story, or a full-blown novel.) Certainly, your own experiences become part of the story fabric. So as you read page after page, your mind incorporates your past experiences into some of the emotional connections that are made. What is truly extraordinary is that these connections are made without any effort. We feel those connections. Therefore, movies are usually a letdown. While the written version excites.

Now it all starts from the beginning. Initially, our family members read to us. This gives us a feeling of love, contentment, and safety. However, if we were really lucky, when those stories were read. Our storyteller did so with a lot of emphasis. Of course, this would instill excitement in reading. Does excitement extend itself into our future relationships with books? You bet it does! Next, we start learning to read. Certainly, as our confidence and ability grew. Consequently, the excitement of the stories also grew. By the time we are reading books with a storyline. We are subconsciously adding ourselves emotionally into the books.

Books Stimulate Your Imagination: Let The Excitement Begin!

First, let me tell you a story. As far back as I can remember. Reading was an escape for me. First of all, I was an Army brat. Secondly, I was always sick. So for me reading was my best friend. Now as time went on and I grew. I became enthralled with Stephen King’s novels. Sometimes it felt like I could not read them fast enough. How was it going to end? I needed to know. However, his novels were not published fast enough. Next, I started reading Dean Koontz. Now I have to tell you; one of his stories called “Intensity” scared me like no other. By this time I could read an entire novel in one day.

To make a long story shorter. My youngest son was diagnosed with malignant melanoma stage 4. When he passed away in 2000. One of the things that I lost interest in was reading. Somehow I was punishing myself for losing him. Therefore I took away another important aspect of my life. After that television became my entertainment. Which was not as enjoyable as reading. However, in 2018 I began to read once more. Currently, I am getting to know Robert Ludlum, Stuart Woods and strangely enough, one of my mothers favorite novelists, a Mr. Frank Yerby.

Books Stimulate Your Imagination: as parents, it is our responsibility to bring excitement. While this can be done from day one. When you read to your child or grandchild. Find a way to be expressive of the feelings in the story. For instance, if a character is angry. Then use an angry voice. On the other hand, if a character is happy. Find a happy voice to use. In addition use hand gestures. Children find these very expressive. Think to yourself to show the visual. Along with the vocal expressions. Thereby making the experience fun. Consequently, you will look forward to reading a story. All the while building a love of the written word. For all of those, you read aloud.
