Quality Friends In Low Places

Quality Friends In Low Places

While I had the amazing opportunity of meeting Quality Friends In Low Places. Unlike the Garth Brooks Song, this was not about ending a relationship. This is the beginning of my acquiring the chance; to watch two amazing little girls grow up. Certainly, this is an amazing family promoting the well-being of their children’s future. Moreover, the background is; of the quality upbringing of the parents. Now instilling the values into their children. However, we met in what would be called low places. On the grass of a park in the middle of the afternoon. Not a high-class school, fancy restaurant, or upscale neighborhood. While we were both looking to enjoy the same thing. The Fourth Of July Fireworks Display put on at the Oxbow for the holiday.

Fortunately, my beautiful Cassie was my passport into their world. With my amazing Newfoundland Landseer dog, meeting this family was made possible. Their little girls fell in instant love. with her. Like so many children and adults before them. But, I immediately knew these girls were different. With the assurance of a child much older, the 10 year old Larissa, had the posture of a much older child. While the little 2 year old Amalia; although following in big sisters footsteps. Was definitely a force of her own.

Meeting These Quality Friends In Low Places

Since my move back to Napa, I have been anticipating the Fourth Of July Fireworks Show. Because the entire time I was in Auburn; I had missed the show every single year. Watching Fireworks was a big part of my Independence Day celebrations; so they were incomplete without them. Remembering past celebrations of the fireworks displays when my kids were young. I knew that getting there early was key. I had planned on arriving by 4:00 pm. However, I was a little early. Certainly, I left my purse and cell phone in the car. Not wanting to worry about it being misplaced while Cassie enjoyed meeting all of the new people there. Of course, as luck would have it I met these amazing girls right away. Or should I say Cassie did; and I reaped the benefits.

Now, Larissa the “Big Sister”, had the patience of a saint. Patiently looking after her sister and helping keep her safe. However to just sit and talk to Larissa. Was an exceptional experience in so many ways. She was bright and articulate in ways I had never heard from a child. It was easy to see a totally loving family had been guiding her in each and every step. While parental influence was noticeable. Larissa is a rare child. She already has big dreams for her future. Yet, is totally aware of the challenges of getting where she wants to go.

Along with the knowledge of her “Uniqueness”, in being a leader and not a follower. Larissa was an inspiration. While, knowing her outlook on the world is quite different than any other; she was sure she would succeed. Her kindness for others; with differences she didn’t quite understand was heartfelt. Never wanting to cast the first stone, she was not afraid to stand up for others unable to stand up for themselves. Certainly, still a 10 year old in most ways; but intergrading all aspects of her personality. Fortunately, she was proud of her “Unique” ways and outlook. Not ashamed of them as most children her age tend to be. Her posturing is one of pride and confidence.

One of the amazing aspects of these girls. Was that the little one Amalia was just as “Unique” as her sister and destined to be a leader as well. Of course, they were each different as well as alike. Moreover it was too soon to see just how the little one would manifest her talents. This was definitely a reflection of loving parents that encouraged their child to be exactly what she was while maintaining the norms of a changing society. Her parents Laura and Richard proudly sat nearby and let me interact with their amazing girls.

Napa Valley’s Fireworks Display Show & Quality Friends In Low Places

Now I know that I went to this little park for the Independence Day Fireworks Display. So this is the part that I am going to tell you about them. While I would not recommend waiting almost 20 years to see one. The outcome was above and beyond my expectations. Naturally, I am excited to watch any display for celebrating this empowering occasion. The anticipation was there the whole time I was at the park. You could “Feel” it in the crowd as they started gathering. Slowly at first, but as dusk started to show its face the excitement grew. For the first time, I saw amazing items for sale before the show. Lighted items unlike any other in years. Including ones that blew bubbles in what Larissa called a “Bubble Storm”. There was no drunken fighting.

Clearly all present were in awe of what this day represented, as well as wanting their children to feel respect for our Independence. Since it had been so many years; the display itself was fabulous. Not starting out slow, like the ones I remembered from my past. The crowd was in awe of the many beautiful and different firework designs we saw. I marveled at the crowd reaction of Ohh’s and Ahh’s that softly went through the crowd. Moreover, getting stronger with every release of new explosions that delighted us. However, the finale was not like I remembered; it was so much more. I did notice many of the spectators were sharing wine and finger foods.
