Authentic Wiener Schnitzel

Authentic Wiener Schnitzel

Now, Authentic Wiener Schnitzel is one of my favorite “German” meals. But that means the whole dinner. While you can make anything, you like to accompany the veal. First of all, let me state that Wiener Schnitzel is NOT a hot dog! However, it is thinly cut, breaded veal steak. Since the “whole meal” also consists of “German Blau Kraut”. In addition to a side of home-fried potatoes, certainly, this meal was meant to pair with beer. But having a Fine Wine while preparing it can enhance the enjoyment.

Authentic Wiener Schnitzel: Ingredients:

→ Start with 4 to 6 Veal Steaks cut to 1/3 inch

→ Next, we have 3 preparation dishes: 1 for the flour, 1 for the raw eggs, and 1 for the seasoned breadcrumbs.

→ Salt and Pepper

→ 2 to 3 Whole Lemons cut in quarters

→ Oil for Frying, Preferably MCT (Multi-Chain Triglyceride).

Authentic Wiener Schnitzel: Cooking Instructions:

First, place the veal steaks on a flat surface. Then salt, pepper, and squeeze ¼ lemon on each side of the meat. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

Second, heat a large skillet to 375° and bring oil to frying temperature. Do not let it burn.

Now, while oil is heating; take the first veal steak. Now place it in the flour and cover both sides.

Then place it into the eggs; so that both sides are wet over the flour.

Next dredge each side; through the Seasoned Bread Crumbs. While using a fork works best. Since you do not want to disturb the coatings. Then immediately place in hot oil. Now cook about 3 minutes on each side. Quickly removing from oil and put on a plate. Repeat until all of the steaks are cooked. The breading should be browned on each side and bumpy. (From air pockets). Remaining lemon; to be used on the steaks while eating.

While making the Wiener Schnitzel is easy. Certainly not like the preparation of the Blau Kraut. Since there are many ways to prepare this dish. However, achieving the correct balance; of the “Sweet And Sour”. Takes a lot of practice. As well as patience. But when they are both combined with the “Home Fried Potatoes”. Resulting in “German” comfort food. Of course the addition of lemon. Can make or break the meal. However a little goes a long way. Therefore use a little at a time. Until you find your “Taste”.
